Joshuas Thoughts

I have enjoyed this course because of using all the fun OSS.
I think I have done well in this course.
I think is not important but is still very good and useful.
I would like to do something like this but more on one or two softwares.

Sam's thoughts

I thimk that Cool Internet Freebies was one of the best PEAC courses I have ever done as we got to use the computers lots and got to learn about many Open Source programs. The only annoying thing was that I felt that we didn't get enough time to look at a program so we could start using it really well . Oh, and also, THREE PROJECTS!?!? I mean, no offence, but when you look at the title you think, " Oh here's a good course, just surfing the net and looking at some programs. But I guess it doesn't really matter. Anyway, I think that I did considerably well looking at my scores.(I'm not boasting, ok!)Yes! I certaintly do think PEAC is good for my education as it teaches you a lot of alternitave things. Finally, it is also a good excuse to get away from my extremely grumpy teacher at school!

Eugenia's thoughts

Hi everyone!
I really suggest that you do this course. I have learnt so much about open source software, at the beginning I didn't even know what it was!

I reckon i did ok in this course since im not the best at computers.

I reckon that PEAC is really important. Without PEAC I wouldnt know what open source software was since they don't teach us at school!

I reckon that there is always room for improvement and that this course has a few things they can do. First of all make the course longer because i haven't even noticed how fast the course has went. We tried a bit of every open source software that was introduced to us during this course but it wasnt enough to learn it and have a realy good go at it, otherwise this course is great and I wouldn't change it :D

Thankyou so much Mrs Winton for a FABULOUS! course :D:D

NATHAN'S COURSE EVALUATION

I really enjoyed this course heaps because I learn't how to use things I never would have really looked at. Gimp was one of my favourites because it allows to do many unbelievable things. One other thing about Gimp is that is has so many features just like Audacity. Audacity was great also because it let's you do tons of things with sound files.
I reckon I did pretty well on this course but I would have done better if a had more time on each peice of software, well at least I hope.
Peac really does help your education because you learn how to do things that you wouldn't learn at school. It also extends your education so your learning more.
I really think their should be a course just on the Gimp because there are so many more things you can do with Gimp but, we just haven't learnt them.

I thought this course was a great one becuase i could work with computers and this is the first time i have done a course like this. The things we did were play with Scratch, Gimp, Audacity and Asteroids Scratch is an open software wich alows you to create and move characters and make games.

Chris's thoughts!!!

I think that the course was good and my favourite program is the GIMP. I also think that there should be a course only about the GIMP. I think the I did good in this course and that PEAC is good for education.

Adam's Evaluation

I enjoyed Cool Internet Freebies alot because it explored programs that you can modify.
I reckon I did allright, but I'm not the teacher so I don't know how exactly I compare to other students.
I think PEAC is essential for those who qualify because at normal school, you know most of the answers and I become bored and often get in trouble for not paying attention. PEAC is a challenge and you are the one who decides what you want to do for the course.
I think future courses maybe should include a course purely on GIMP, Audacity or Scratch.

Kash Thinks That......

☻This corse was fun because we got to use all this free stuff☻
☻quite good☻
☻yes because i lern more stuff then i would at school☻
☻yes a course for gimp☻

Shauna Says:

Hello everybody! My name is Shauna and I'm in year seven and this is my last session at PEAC ever.

I love Cool Internet Freebies. I thought at first when I saw it "Ooh, yay, games!" Then I found out that it wasn't about games. It was about open source software.

But I didn't care that we weren't learning about games. It was heaps more fun! I learnt about lots of useful products so I can use them at home. This course is fantastic. We now can use great open source software products at home. We also made new friends and learnt lots of new things. Good on you, Mrs Winton!

Now, how did I go in this course? I think I did pretty well! I think I figured out GIMP pretty easily, Cool Text rocked, and Open Office was pretty easy too, but Audacity I found very difficult! I haven't had time to do Scratch yet, though I plan to. So overall, I think I did pretty well.

Is PEAC important when it comes to education? I would say so. If it weren't for PEAC, I wouldn't know certain things, like in Bubbleology I learn't about soap molecules, air, water and bubble skill for example. In two computer courses I learnt a LOT of stuff that I use nearly every time I go onto the computer. In a photography course I learnt lots too that I will always remember. In Are The Burgers Better at Hungry Jacks I learnt about health and stuff about food. In Game of Life I learnt about stuff which will help me in the future.
And Cool Internet Freebies helped me A LOT! I know heaps about open source software now, and I hadn't even heard about it before! I've showed my friends and now they have benifited from it too.
And if it weren't for PEAC maybe I might not have got into ATP at the high school I'm going to. Plus, it helps young students who need a challenge get a challenge.

I suggest Mrs Winton that you do a PEAC course which does one certain product. Like music products, photo-editing software, etc. Maybe you could, for example, compare the photo-editing softwares to see which one is the best! It would be interesting to see which software won each time.

Thank you Mrs Winton for a great PEAC course!
